Privacy Policy for PromptIQ

This Privacy Policy describes how PromptIQ collects, uses, and shares your data when you use the PromptIQ Chrome Extension and associated services.

1. What Data We Collect

To provide prompt optimization and scoring, PromptIQ collects the following data types:

• Prompt Text (Personal Communications): Free Smart Template optimization runs locally in your browser and does not send prompt text to an optimization API. When a Premium user chooses to optimize a prompt, we send that prompt through our serverless backend to the Google Gemini API.
• Website Content: We read the active chatbox input field content locally on supported AI platforms (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) solely to calculate the prompt quality score (0-100) dynamically as you type.
• User Activity Metadata: We collect metadata about optimization events (such as the AI platform name, the original score, the optimized score, and the time of the event) to populate your history logs and dashboard statistics.
• Account Information: If you create an account, we collect your email address and password authentication data. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes.
• Subscription Metadata: If you upgrade to Premium, Stripe processes your payment and we store subscription status, plan, and Stripe customer/subscription identifiers.

2. How Data Is Stored

• Local Storage: Your configuration settings (tier preferences) and a local cache of your history are stored on your device using IndexedDB and Chrome Storage Local APIs.
• Database Storage: When you are signed in, a copy of your optimized prompts and scores is synchronized to our Neon Postgres database through our Vercel serverless backend. Signed-out Free history remains on your device.

3. How Data Is Used

We use the collected data solely for the following purposes:

• To calculate your prompt scores in real-time.
• To perform Premium prompt optimizations using the Google Gemini API.
• To save and synchronize your optimization runs history so you can retrieve them in your extension popup.
• To operate the service, prevent abuse, and process user-requested feedback and subscriptions.

4. Data Sharing & Third Parties

• No Sale of Data: We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to third parties.
• Third-Party APIs: Premium prompt optimizations are processed using the Google Gemini API. The prompt text, selected AI platform, detected request category, and related optimization instructions are shared with Google's API to complete the request. We do not include your account email or password in these requests.
• Payments: Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe. PromptIQ does not store full card numbers.
• Website Services: Google Fonts and CDN-hosted frontend assets may receive standard browser request metadata when you visit PromptIQ web pages.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

Signed-out Free history is retained locally on your device. History associated with a signed-in account is also synchronized to our database. You can delete prompt history at any time by clicking the "Clear All" button in the History tab of the PromptIQ dashboard. This removes history locally and from the account's central records. Account, subscription, survey, and operational logs may be retained as needed to operate the service, handle billing, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.

6. Policy Certifications

• We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties outside of the approved Gemini API use case.
• We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to PromptIQ's single core function.
• We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
• We do not use prompt, account, or browsing data for personalized advertising.
• We do not allow humans to read prompt data except with the user's explicit consent for support, when necessary for security, or when required by law.
• The use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
